On Sunday 10 August 2025, members of the Relay Trust had the honour of joining thousands of Anglicans from across our partner Province of IAMA (Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola) to mark the historic Centenary of the Anglican Church in Angola.
Over the past century, the Church has grown from small seeds of Gospel witness, from a lay reader from England called Archibald Patterson, into a vibrant and expanding community across the nation. Through seasons of challenge, change and even persecution, the church has stood alongside the people of Angola, sharing in their struggles and proclaiming the unshakable hope found in Jesus Christ. Today, its ministry is bearing fruit in cities, towns, and rural communities, inspiring many across Southern Africa, the wider continent, and the global Anglican Church.
The Church continues to advance with remarkable energy, through the discipleship of its grassroots leaders and through the recently launched missionary strategy in the dioceses of Centro & Sul and Divina Esperança, both initiatives the Relay Trust is privileged to be able to support.
Representing the Relay Trust at the celebration in Uige was our regional relationship manager for IAMA, Daniel Magagnin, who was joined by team member Daniel Mulrine. Together, they witnessed the joy, unity, and vision that characterise this Province and its commitment to Gospel-centred mission.
At the Relay Trust, it is both a joy and a privilege to partner with the Church in Angola and the wider Province of IAMA. We thank God for the remarkable progress of recent years and look ahead with anticipation to the next chapter, confident that the Lord who has sustained His people here for the past 100 years will continue to strengthen and guide them for the century to come.
Parabéns, Angola! May your light continue to shine brightly, bringing hope to many and glory to God.
