Following the centenary celebrations in Angola, the Relay Trust team, represented by Daniel Magagnin and Daniel Mulrine, joined the national discipleship team on an excursion into some of the most remote parts of the country’s north. Each day involved up to eight hours of travel to reach scattered villages, underlining both the challenge of ministry in these regions and the determination of the team to be present with local leaders.
The journey began in the village of Mukaba, where they met with two SEAN groups currently training around 30 catechists and evangelists. From there, the team continued into Malanje Province to meet two further groups and hear testimonies from participants engaged in the programme for the past 18 months. Catechists shared how their confidence has grown, particularly in evangelism, with several groups already organising outreach events in their communities.
Many students walk or cycle long distances every week to attend sessions, and their commitment has been deeply inspiring. Testimonies highlighted how the training has strengthened their ability to use the Bible, prepare sermons, and take up new ministry opportunities that are already making a difference in their lives and communities.
The final stop was in Kwanza Norte, where the Relay Trust team met another newly established SEAN group. For many, this was the very first theological training they had ever received. The enthusiasm was striking, with participants ranging in age from 17 to 61, all eager to serve their churches. It is a privilege to work alongside the Anglican Church in Angola and to see so much fruit from this precious partnership already. We are encouraged and excited to be part of this journey, and to witness how God is strengthening His Church in these communities.
