Sudan Conflict April 2023

The Relay Trust is deeply concerned about the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which has resulted in the loss of many lives and displacement of countless others. We partner with the Episcopal Church of Sudan, whose members have been caught up in the violence. We stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan during this difficult time.

Many members of the Episcopal Church of Sudan have been caught up in the conflict. The church’s buildings and property have also been affected, including the Cathedral in Khartoum being vandalised. The situation is particularly dire for those who have been displaced from their homes and communities.

We ask that those reading this message join us in remembering the people of Sudan and the members of the church in their prayers.

Archbishop Ezekiel Kondo, the Primate of the Episcopal Church of Sudan, has asked specifically for prayers for:

  • An end to the fighting
  • Access to food, water, and medical supplies for all
  • The safe evacuation of stranded expatriates

The Archbishop also noted that since the incident happened so suddenly, the people affected have been surviving on dried bread and rice, which have run out for many. All places are closed, including banks, and there is no access to anything.

We trust God is control of this situation and can use all things for good.  Thank you for joining us in praying for this desperate situation.
