The Anglican Discipleship Programme in South Sudan

Eastern Equatoria

One of the largest and most wide ranging programmes the Relay Trust has embarked upon in 2023 has been the Anglican Discipleship Programme (ADP) in South Sudan.  The brain child of Archbishop Paul Yugasuk, the Archbishop of the Central Equatoria Internal Province, the ADP seeks to provide discipleship training, practical ministry training, and education about the Anglican distinctives of the Episcopal Church in South Sudan (ECSS) across the country.

As at 1 September 2023 and with the expert support of SEAN International, the programme has been successfully rolled out into 208 groups across 50 dioceses from 6 Internal Provinces within South Sudan, with 3128 pastors and catechists in training across the country, supported by over 80 facilitators and a team of administrative staff.

The programme is will also seek to encompass youth leadership training, delivered by SOMA, as well as providing facilitator training skills and training content for the catechists and clergy to deliver to their congregations, both young and old; through Rooted in Jesus and Rooted in Jesus Junior.

The initial programme roll out is due to be completed in October 2023, after which focus will be shifted to ensuring the sustainable long term delivery of this life changing training.

Please pray for the Episcopal Church in South Sudan and for the ADP.  We pray that the ADP will spread so widely that it will have a genuinely transformational impact not only on the church, but on the wider society within the country.
