Training and Gospel Growth in Chad

In July 2025, the Anglican Church in Chad hosted the third session of the BUILD programme. Thirty-five students gathered, opening their Bibles, lifting their voices in prayer, and encouraging one another as they studied modules five and six. A new liturgy, recently adopted by the Province of Alexandria, is now in use. It has already been translated into French, and work has begun to prepare local language versions. Teamwork ran as a major theme throughout the week. Pastors learning not to stand alone, but to lean on one another in the field.

This training is not an end in itself. It is a means to mission. The vision of the church is clear with the move into evangelism and church planting coming first. Follow-up visits are helping leaders to see what students are putting into practice week by week.

Among the Massa people, Rev. Frederic and the local community gathered millet stalks from the land and built a simple church. The first service has already been held there. Fragile though the structure may be, it rings with hope.

Among the Moussey people, Desmon and new believers raised their first chapel. Thirty-two people have been baptised and now await confirmation. The building, still unfinished, will also serve as a primary school when resources allow. Desmon has married within the tribe, and he and his wife joined the July BUILD training together.

Among the Sarah people, Deacon Benjamin and his team have planted four churches. Two Anglican primary schools are now open, and in May thirty-five new believers were baptised. Along the river, land lies unused during the long dry season, but there is a vision to see market gardening introduced, providing food for mission families so they can remain, serve, and stay.

These scenes reveal what grace can do with very little. A stick chapel becomes a classroom. A classroom becomes a place of prayer. Children learn to read. Parents hear the Gospel. The church grows in patience and courage.

It is an honour to walk alongside these men and women of God in such work. Their faith, their courage, and their endurance shine all the brighter for the hardships they face.

The needs remain clear with chapels built from durable materials, able also to function as classrooms; bicycles and motorbikes, so that missionaries can reach scattered villages. These are modest things, yet they unlock ministry across vast distances.

Please pray for Frederic, for Desmon and his wife, and for Deacon Benjamin and his team. Pray for the newly baptised among the Massa, Moussey, and Sarah peoples. Pray for endurance through the dry months, and for provision to finish chapels and equip schools. And above all, pray that the seeds planted through the July training will bear fruit in holy lives and many new disciples of Jesus.
